Dyson has unveiled three new robot vacuums in its Nurovi lineup: the flagship R3 Nurovi Spot+Scrub UV, the R2 Nurovi Wash+Dry and the R1 Nurovi Dry.
The R2 uses two rounded “Reuleaux” triangle pads instead of circular discs. They rotate eccentrically, helping the mop reach closer into corners. Dyson senior design manager Nathan Lawson Mclean said the concept was first developed in 2019, when engineers tested it on a brush bar but found that it caused too much ricocheting.
All three models have redesigned side sweepers. Their geometry, influenced by the conical cleaner heads used on products such as the Dyson V16, is intended to reduce scattered dirt and hair wrapping.
The flagship R3 adds a UV light that highlights dried-on substances such as sugary drinks, milk, tonic water and sparkling water. It then scrubs over the area to clear the mess before it becomes sticky or starts to smell.
The vacuum-only R1 is aimed at homes without hard flooring, people seeking a more affordable option and users who are cautious about robot mops. Dyson also introduced a free “white glove” video onboarding service through Dyson Concierge, covering unboxing, connection and home mapping. Lawson Mclean said user trials found that some people in their 30s did not understand what setup involved.
