DJI Osmo 360 II adds native 8K/60fps video and replaceable lenses

DJI’s Osmo 360 II addresses several weaknesses of the company’s first 360 camera while keeping its price below the rival Insta360 X6.

The new model has tougher optical coatings and user-replaceable lenses. DJI also now presents it as suitable for underwater shooting, although its case-free waterproof rating remains 10m, compared with 20m for the Insta360 X6.

Its main imaging upgrade is native 8K video at 60fps, which the source describes as a first for any 360 camera. The Insta360 X6 supports 8K/50fps. Dynamic range, slow motion, timelapse resolution and SuperNight low-light performance have also improved. The underlying sensor appears physically unchanged, suggesting that many gains come from image processing.

The Osmo 360 II retains the original’s 61 x 36.3 x 81mm body, 183g weight and 105GB of built-in storage. Battery life is roughly on par with the first model, while DJI’s Mimo and Studio apps remain dependable.

The Standard Combo costs £509 / AU$921, up from £409.99 / AU$759 for the original at launch. The Insta360 X6 starts at £619.99 / AU$1,049.99. The Osmo 360 II is not currently arriving in the US because DJI’s application for regulatory authorization remains pending.
