CD Projekt RED CEO Michał Nowakowski says a planned live-action film set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077 will not directly adapt the game’s story.
Speaking to Polish outlet PAP Biznes, Nowakowski confirmed reports of a deal with Paramount Pictures to make the film. Deadline had reported the deal one week earlier.
“We definitely don’t want to make a film adaptation of the game,” Nowakowski said, according to Wccftech’s account of the interview. He said the goal is to tell a story in the world of Cyberpunk, rather than create a one-to-one translation of the game’s narrative.
The comments indicate that the film is intended to use the game’s setting while telling a different story. The source report does not provide further details about the film’s plot or production.
