Canva expands free Affinity suite with more than 60 additions

Canva has announced more than 60 additions to Affinity, its free creative software, as it seeks to make the suite more competitive with Adobe. The updates cover photography, design, automation and file compatibility.

Photography tools now include batch importing, improved RAW processing, preset looks for multiple images, and correction tools for mixed illumination and camera movement. Scene Decomposition uses AI to separate flattened pictures into editable components. A new Astrophotography Studio adds controls for editing night-sky and astronomical images.

Affinity can now import InDesign documents directly. Canva Brand Kit and Canva Sheets provide connections to brand assets and structured information. Other additions include vector editing, typography, brushes, noise reduction, high dynamic range processing, export controls, Sony ARW6 support and OpenColorIO display emulation.

The release is part of Canva ProSuite, which brings Affinity, Cavalry, Flourish and Leonardo together. Canva says ProSuite includes over 100 additions and changes across its connected products this year. Cavalry receives more than 50 changes, including shape controls, lighting effects, graph-editing improvements and expanded SVG handling.

Selected Cavalry elements can become editable in Canva while the underlying animation remains protected. Affinity and Cavalry can also connect to AI assistants through AI Connectors for repetitive operations using natural-language instructions.
