IGN Nordic reports that Blade director Bassam Tariq defended Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige after leaving the Mahershala Ali-led film. Marvel had planned the movie as a vampire story set in the 1920s, but later scrapped it.
Tariq said he felt like a “failure” after exiting the project. He also described Feige as a “good dude” and said Feige had “a lot on his plate, too much.” Tariq said he did not blame Feige for how events unfolded.
Tariq was the first of two directors officially linked to the Marvel Studios film. The available report does not detail why the project was scrapped or describe the second director’s involvement.
