A cybersecurity incident at BAE Systems disrupted the US Bankruptcy Noticing Center (BNC), temporarily halting the production and distribution of bankruptcy notices for federal courts.
The US Federal Courts said BAE Systems’ information technology and websites supporting BNC operations were affected. Access to BNC systems and websites operated by BAE Systems for the Federal Judiciary, as well as the related bankruptcy-noticing process, was unavailable at the time of the notice. The disruption also affected the National Creditor Registration Service.
The Administrative Office of the US Courts said it was coordinating with affected courts and BAE Systems. The company was “actively investigating” the incident and working to restore operations, according to the notice.
In a statement to BleepingComputer, BAE Systems said the incident was isolated to the BNC system, that it had taken immediate steps to address it, and that it was coordinating with the Administrative Office of the US Courts.
The notice did not report data theft or describe how the incident occurred. BAE Systems operates BNC systems and websites on behalf of the Federal Judiciary.
