Apple M5 Ultra Beats 96-Core Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX by 11% in Geekbench 7

Apple’s M5 Ultra has reportedly taken the lead in workstation-class processor performance, according to new Geekbench 7 scores cited by Wccftech. The results place the company’s fastest SoC ahead of AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX in both single-threaded and multi-threaded workloads.

The comparison is notable because the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX uses a 96-core, 192-thread configuration and reaches boost clock speeds of up to 5.40GHz. Despite using less than half as many cores, the M5 Ultra reportedly achieved an 11% higher multi-core score.

Apple Silicon also retained a substantial advantage in single-core performance. Wccftech reports that the M5 Ultra was almost 50% faster than the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX in that test. These results come from new Geekbench 7 scores and describe benchmark performance rather than broader real-world workstation performance.
