Apple has announced the iPhone Duo, its first foldable phone, according to The Verge. The device has a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner display with a “nano-texture” finish and barely visible crease.
Instead of Face ID, the iPhone Duo uses Touch ID built into the power button. Its two cameras are a main lens and a wide-angle lens. Apple also redesigned iOS 27’s controls and apps for the foldable, including moving the dock to the side of the phone. Unfolding the device triggers an opening animation.
The Verge describes the iPhone Duo as a major new bet for Apple, arriving later than foldable phones from competitors such as Samsung and Google. The phone starts at $1,999 for the 256GB base model, with higher-priced models also available. Apple said preorder demand was “extraordinary”; whether the device becomes a hit remains uncertain.
