Anthropic merges Claude chat and Cowork in one interface

Anthropic is merging the front ends for Claude chat and Cowork into a unified interface. The company says the redesign is intended to make it easier for users to choose how to handle different tasks.

The new interface brings chat, Cowork and Artifacts, Claude’s interactive workspace feature, into the same window. Claude Design, introduced in April for website and prototype design, is also available throughout Claude. Anthropic previously said customers often struggled to choose the right tab for a task.

With the redesign, Claude automatically routes requests to the relevant part of the app, so users do not need to switch between tabs or windows. Anthropic is also adding dedicated presentation and document features. Users can ask Claude to create, edit and present slides, then download presentations as PDF or PowerPoint files.

Through the Docs feature, users can work with Claude to create sections, ask questions and comment on completed portions. Generated documents and slides can be shared by link and edited on a phone. Users can also start a document on desktop and track its progress in the mobile app.

The features are rolling out to Claude’s Pro and Max plans on the web, desktop and mobile over the coming weeks. Anthropic plans to extend them to the free and team tiers later. The update follows an upgrade to Cowork’s memory layer, which helps Claude retain user context across chats.
