The OptiScaler modding community has brought AMD’s FSR 4.1.2 upscaling models to Intel Arc graphics cards, using their dedicated XMX cores for hardware acceleration.
According to early community testing, the modified implementation can produce better image quality than Intel’s XeSS upscaling while keeping performance costs similar. The comparison is preliminary and comes from community testing.
The work uses modified FSR 4 INT8 DLLs optimized for Intel’s Xe Matrix Extensions (XMX) hardware. The source describes the change as a modding community effort.
