Amazfit’s Australian lineup challenges Garmin on price

Amazfit launched in Australia in July 2026 as a lower-priced alternative to premium smartwatch brands such as Garmin. TechRadar writer Nico Arboleda compared several Amazfit wearables with Garmin models after years of using Garmin devices for running, hiking, cycling, swimming and badminton.

The Amazfit Balance 3 costs AU$519, compared with AU$949 for the Garmin Venu 4. Balance 3 launched globally in June 2026 and in Australia in August. It has a 3,000-nit peak-brightness display, a stainless-steel case, a built-in LED flashlight, a rotating crown, three buttons and native Hyrox race profiles. TechRadar is still reviewing the watch.

The screenless Amazfit Helio Strap costs AU$166 on Amazon, compared with AU$199 for the Google Fitbit Air and AU$299 for the Garmin Cirqa. It weighs 20g and does not require a subscription, although the optional Aura service adds an AI-based wellness advisor and audio relaxation content. The Amazfit Active 2 costs AU$159.19 at its stated discounted price, versus AU$349 for the Garmin Forerunner 55. TechRadar gave the Active 2 five stars and the Helio Strap four stars out of five. Amazfit’s Zepp Health app, like Garmin Connect, can be used without a subscription.
