Airbnb targets first-half 2027 launch for AI travel agent

Airbnb says it plans to launch its AI travel agent in the first half of 2027. The company announced the timing in its Q3 shareholder letter and shared more about how the feature is intended to work.

Chief executive Brian Chesky said travel planning differs from routine tasks such as making a restaurant reservation. He cited a figure that 80% of travelers enjoy researching trips, and said the agent should support browsing and discovery rather than replace them.

Airbnb describes a personalized, travel-focused interface that can assemble maps, photos, comparisons, calendars and itineraries in response to a guest’s needs. The company says the agent will draw on its nearly 20 years of experience connecting hosts and guests.

The agent is also intended to assist guests during their trips, including with reservation changes, payment issues, refunds, rebooking and 24-hour safety support. Airbnb says it may eventually cover services and experiences as well as homes and hotels.

The announcement came alongside Airbnb’s third-quarter results. Revenue grew 19% to $4.87 billion, topping Wall Street estimates, and the company raised its 2026 revenue growth forecast to the high teens from the mid-teens. Chesky said Q3 was the company’s fastest revenue growth in more than three years.
