With Aion 2’s global launch less than a month away, NC brought the MMORPG to gamescom 2026. The studio presented the game as the version of the original Aion it always wanted to make.
The developers said the 2008 original was limited by the technology available at the time. They said Unreal Engine 5 now allows the team to pursue that vision at the scale originally imagined.
The world of Atreia is described as a fully open, seamless MMORPG setting. The developers’ claim is ambitious: areas visible to players can be explored within the game world.
The Q&A also confirmed that NVIDIA DLSS 5 is in development for Aion 2. A console launch is planned, while cross-play is considered unlikely.
