Accenture has limited centrally funded Claude Enterprise credits to $29 per employee per month, according to a report by 404 Media cited by TechRadar. The restriction reportedly took effect at the start of October 2026.
Some employees had been spending as much as $1,000 a month on Claude, the report said. The $29 amount is described as a soft limit rather than an absolute cap: separate team or project budgets may fund additional usage when needed.
An internal announcement said license allocations are reviewed periodically and access may be reassessed based on business priorities, role requirements, usage patterns and workforce needs. The reported restriction affects General accounts. Some intensive users are seeking Premium accounts, which have a $250 weekly token limit and cost more.
An unnamed employee told 404 Media that Claude Code had been integral to their work developing an AI accelerator for Accenture customers. An Accenture spokesperson said the company aims to provide the right tool for each task and continues to invest in AI capabilities, skills and enablement for clients and its own organization.
TechRadar reports that Meta and Microsoft have also introduced measures to reduce spending on external AI tools while encouraging use of their own. TechRadar Pro said it contacted Anthropic about possible revenue effects but had not received an immediate response.
