TechRadar’s Stefan Ionescu describes Malwarebytes Personal Data Remover as a decent service with room for improvement. The review says it scans people-finder sites for users’ personal information and sends automated deletion requests when it finds data.
The service is available only to U.S. residents and scans more than 100 popular people-finder sites focused on U.S. data. Users can track automated requests from a dashboard, but the service does not support manually drafted requests. For sites that require a manual opt-out, Malwarebytes provides guidance on the process.
Personal Data Remover is included in Malwarebytes’ Ultimate plan rather than sold separately. The plan costs $280 per year, with a first-year discount to $140, and includes antivirus protection, a VPN, and identity protection for 3 devices. A 10-device family bundle costs $400 per year, discounted to $200 for the first year. Malwarebytes also offers a 14-day free trial and a 60-day money-back guarantee, according to the review.
The reviewer says non-U.S. residents can use the free Digital Footprint Scanner, which checks email addresses against known data breaches but does not scan people-finder sites or send deletion requests. Ionescu considers the remover most suitable for people already using Malwarebytes’ broader security suite, and says its U.S.-only reach and lack of manual requests are drawbacks.
