Ericsson is reorganizing its leadership and business operations, saying the changes will help it make better use of research and development, respond to customer needs and reduce costs.
From January 1, 2027, the North East Asia and South East Asia, Oceania and India market areas will merge into a new Market Area Asia-Pacific, or APAC. Patrick Johansson, currently head of Europe, Middle East and Africa, will lead APAC and remain on the executive team. Ericsson said it is recruiting a successor to his current role.
Chafic Nassif and Andres Vicente, who lead the two market areas being combined, will help establish the new unit and hand over their responsibilities on December 31, 2026. Both will leave the executive team.
Ericsson will also split the Enterprise Wireless Solutions (BEWS) portfolio. Neutral Host solutions and Ericsson Private 5G will move to Business Area Networks. Wireless WAN will remain a standalone operation and report to Yossi Cohen, head of the Americas market area.
Åsa Tamsons, who leads BEWS, will leave her executive team role at year-end after helping transfer the businesses. CEO Per Narvinger said she had helped create new routes to enterprise customers and had been an important change leader. The source attributes the stated goals and rationale for the reorganization to Ericsson.
