Ahold Delhaize takes some systems offline after security incident

Ahold Delhaize says it has taken some systems offline after a security issue affected its network. The company described the event as a cybersecurity incident and said its teams were assessing and working to mitigate it. Its stores remain open and serving customers, it said.

The company operates more than 9,400 stores across Europe, the United States and Indonesia, and serves around 60 million customers weekly through physical shops and online services. It reported net sales of more than $104 billion in 2024.

Some services have been disrupted. Stop & Shop employees in the United States have reported trouble accessing work schedules and pay stubs. Customers have been unable to use websites, apps and customer service platforms for Albert Heijn, Etos and Gall & Gall in the Netherlands, and Delhaize in Belgium. A Food Lion employee memo described the event as an IT outage and warned that some stores might be unable to shop, stage or hand off orders.

Ahold Delhaize had not responded to BleepingComputer’s questions about the scope of the disruption or whether any devices were encrypted. The incident follows a November 2024 ransomware attack on the company’s U.S. systems, in which personal, financial and health information belonging to more than 2.2 million people was stolen, according to the report.
