Google releases offline meeting notes app AI Edge Foresight

Google has released AI Edge Foresight, a Mac app for taking meeting notes that can work completely offline. The company says it is optimized for Apple Silicon.

The app uses the on-device EmbeddingGemma 2 model, which has 740 million parameters, to capture meetings, including in-person conversations. Users can write shorthand notes alongside AI-generated notes and add manual notes while the app transcribes a meeting. They can also view the transcript or ask a Gemma 4-powered assistant questions.

Users can add PDFs, Google Docs, Microsoft Office files, plain text, Markdown and web bookmarks to a knowledge base. The app can use meeting notes and those documents to answer questions in real time when related information comes up in a meeting.

Google’s FAQ says the app works offline, allowing users to access meeting notes without an internet connection. The source describes the app as a potential showcase for the company’s offline Gemma models; it does not report a consumer release across video-calling apps.

Meeting note-taking is a crowded market. In recent months, dictation company Wispr and scheduling company Calendly released their own note-takers. Productivity startup Superhuman, formerly Grammarly, acquired Fathom last month.
