Microsoft Expands Copilot+ With AI Features as RTX Spark PCs Drop the Brand

Microsoft is expanding the Copilot+ brand through artificial intelligence features, according to a report by Wccftech. The move follows recent uncertainty about whether the company was moving away from the branding.

The report says Microsoft announced a new Surface Laptop Ultra after it had appeared that the Copilot+ name might be phased out. It describes the company’s approach as expanding what Copilot+ PCs can do through software features rather than pushing the brand more heavily at consumers.

Microsoft executive Brett Ostrum said Copilot+ PCs are “improving customers’ experiences across search, imaging, and video calls,” according to the report. It does not identify specific new features or provide details about their availability.

In September, Ostrum, identified as Microsoft’s Surface CVP, confirmed that new Surface PCs and other machines featuring the RTX Spark would not use the Copilot+ name in marketing. The report therefore describes two developments: Microsoft is adding AI capabilities associated with Copilot+, while RTX Spark systems will not carry the same branding.

The distinction suggests the Copilot+ name may continue to be used for some PCs even as Microsoft changes how it applies the label across its hardware lineup. The report does not give further details about the branding strategy.
