Samsung has announced the Galaxy Buds On, its first clip-on open earbuds. The design leaves the ear canal open so users can hear their surroundings.
The earbuds are confirmed for South Korea so far. Samsung says they will reach other markets later, but has not given dates. They go on sale in Korea on October 27 for 299,000 won, equivalent to about $220, £170 or AU$320.
The charging case has a clear top and resembles the Galaxy Buds 4 case. Each earbud has a bud and counterweight joined by an arch. Samsung says it studied different ear shapes to balance the speaker and battery. The company has named the audio system TwinBoost speakers but has not detailed how it works.
Features include audio leakage reduction, touch controls on the counterweight, head gestures and voice commands. Owners of Samsung Galaxy phones can also use Galaxy AI and fast pairing. Samsung says battery life is 9.5 hours.
Samsung says it will share more information when the Galaxy Buds On officially launch in Korea on October 27. The company has not announced an international release date.
