Slack brings AI-built interactive reports and dashboards into chats

Slack is introducing Slackforce Surfaces, a feature that lets users build interactive reports, polls, dashboards, presentations, microsites, and other tools directly inside chats.

Users can describe what they need to Slackbot, which uses AI to gather information from relevant conversations and connected apps such as Google Drive and Salesforce. After Slackbot creates a Surface, users can share it with colleagues and pin it to channels so others can view it, interact with it, and leave comments.

In an example shared by Slack, a user asks Slackbot to create an arcade-themed visualization of AI token usage. The assistant generates an interactive dashboard showing usage across sales, design, and engineering.

Ryan Gavin, Slack’s chief marketing officer, says the feature lets teams build dashboards, presentations, and reports where their conversations already happen. The update follows a Slackbot overhaul that added channel-wide summaries, message sorting, and meeting-time discovery. Slack also added collaborative vibe coding channels last month.

Slack says Surfaces could also support a live customer-support queue dashboard or a weather-themed financial forecast using connected-app data. The feature only uses information that users have permitted Slack’s AI tools to access. Slackforce Surfaces is available to all customers, including free users, when Slackbot is enabled in their workspace. Live data support begins in October.
