Lenovo’s Project AeroBlade Concept Uses Solid-State Cooling

Lenovo is announcing the 14-inch ThinkBook Project AeroBlade Concept laptop for IFA 2026. The concept uses Frore’s AirJet solid-state cooling technology instead of traditional fans, allowing a design that is less than 10mm thick and weighs under 1.8 pounds / 830g.

Recent ThinkPad X1 Carbons are around 14mm at their thickest and weigh about 1kg / 2.2 pounds. AirJet uses piezo electric membranes to force air through the chassis without fans or other moving parts. Lenovo says the AeroBlade Concept is nearly as quiet as a MacBook Air while still using active cooling.

The cooling system also means the laptop has no vents on the bottom, and dust entering the system should be minimized. Frore has demonstrated AirJet in potential applications including a webcam, an iPad, a 2-in-1 Windows convertible, a mini PC, and a Steam Deck. However, the technology has appeared in only a handful of specialized shipping devices.

Lenovo has shared few specifications because the AeroBlade is a concept. The current version uses an Intel Lunar Lake chip, Thunderbolt 4 ports, Wi-Fi 7, and an OLED display. Lenovo communications director Jeff Witt said a commercial version would likely use a newer chip if it reaches the market.
