Mozilla has redesigned Firefox across desktop and mobile, with rounded tabs, a curved address bar, refreshed colors and icons, and additional themes. The desktop and mobile versions now share the same design language.
Mozilla says the visual changes come with “no cost to your browser performance.” It describes the redesign as a renewal for Firefox, following updates over the past year that added home page widgets, Split View, a built-in VPN, and controls to disable the browser’s AI features.
The new themes include a dozen colors, each available in light and dark modes. Mozilla shared a preview of some theme options in May. The redesign also makes Firefox’s rounded interface visually more similar to Chrome.
Firefox 157 also brings back Compact Mode after users requested its return. The optional layout reduces the size of tabs and the toolbar to leave more screen space for web pages. It includes an auto-compact option for smaller screens.
