Apple’s A20 Pro appears to leave little extra performance available through extreme cooling, according to a Wccftech report.
The report links the chip’s performance to a shift toward Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module (WMCM) custom packaging technology and a larger vapor chamber. The changes are associated with Apple’s 2nm iPhone SoC, which has already broken several records in Geekbench 6.
A YouTuber tested various smartphones with liquid nitrogen and ran the same Geekbench 6 benchmark to measure how much performance the devices had left. The A20 Pro showed less than a 3 percent improvement with the cooling method, described in the report as unusually aggressive.
MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 benefited the most from liquid-nitrogen cooling in the comparison. The results suggest that the A20 Pro’s packaging and vapor-chamber changes may have reduced the amount of additional performance available from lower temperatures, although the report presents the benchmark results rather than a broader performance conclusion.
