Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 5 review: replaceable batteries and flagship sound

In a review for TechRadar, Simon Cocks calls Sennheiser’s Momentum True Wireless 5 a strong flagship option for listeners who value sound quality, features and everyday comfort. He says the earbuds deliver a neutral, non-fatiguing sound and improved active noise cancellation (ANC), though ANC still trails the best from Apple, Bose and Sony.

The review highlights user-replaceable batteries in both the earbuds and charging case. Cocks says Sennheiser includes a tool for the earbuds, while a small screwdriver is needed to access the batteries in the earbuds and case. He reports that opening them was straightforward when following the instructions, while cautioning that the parts are delicate.

Other features include Dolby Atmos spatial audio, aptX Lossless streaming and customization through the Smart Control Plus app. Cocks says he used the earbuds for more than two weeks and found them comfortable, with a premium design. He notes that the touch-control area is small and the earbuds are slightly bulkier than some rivals.

The Momentum True Wireless 5 launch at $300, £250 or AU$499, according to the review. Cocks describes that as competitive with other flagship earbuds, while still expensive for many buyers. He also says the replaceable batteries could help the earbuds last longer, but the review does not establish how long they are designed to last before replacement.
