TechRadar reviewer Harry Padoan says the Venom PlayStation Portal Carry Case offers durable protection and useful extras at a low price, though it is bulky and has a weak inner-compartment zip.
The case has a hard outer shell and a molded interior that holds the PlayStation Portal in place with a hook-and-loop strap. Padoan reports that the exterior showed no damage in his scratch test or signs of wear after drops and being carried in a bag. He notes that the strap can rub against the screen because there is no fabric pad over it.
An interior compartment with a zippered net provides space for accessories such as earbuds, cables, and cleaning tools. Padoan says the compartment’s zip came undone once, but he was able to fix it easily. The outer zip felt more secure. The case also includes a tempered-glass screen protector, cleaning wipes, and textured thumbstick grips.
TechRadar lists the case’s dimensions as 6.2 x 13.2 x 3.9 inches (158 x 335 x 98 mm) and its prices as $25.99, £14.99, and AU$49.95. Padoan considers PowerA’s case marginally better because it has fabric screen padding, a USB-C charging passthrough, and a slimmer profile, while the Venom case offers more storage. He concludes that Venom’s model is a worthwhile option for buyers seeking a lower-priced, durable case with accessories.
