FedEx Orders 2,000 Electric Trucks from Harbinger in $300 Million Deal

FedEx is ordering 2,000 electric trucks from startup Harbinger in a deal worth $300 million. Harbinger told TechCrunch it plans to deliver all 2,000 trucks by the end of next year. The company said the order is its largest bulk order to date.

Harbinger, founded in 2022 by former employees of Anduril, Canoo and QuantumScape, already has trucks in production. It has delivered 53 trucks to FedEx under an earlier order placed alongside FedEx’s $160 million investment in Harbinger’s Series C funding round late last year.

The startup’s main product is an electric medium-duty commercial truck chassis. It has also begun pursuing other business lines, including hybrid emergency vehicles, autonomous driving, battery packs for energy storage and defense applications. In February, Harbinger acquired an autonomous driving company.

The order comes as Harbinger is reportedly considering an IPO. Axios reported in May that the company was weighing one. Bloomberg News first reported the new FedEx order.
