Beats 360 bring sweat resistance and swappable ear cups to over-ear headphones

The Beats 360 are over-ear headphones designed for workouts, with water resistance and removable performance knit ear cups. In a review for The Verge, John Higgins found that the headphones handled sweat well during exercise, although the cups became wet after Victoria Song’s 40-minute run and his one-hour gym session.

The Beats 360 are Beats’ first IP-certified headphones and carry an IPX4 rating, matching the Powerbeats Pro 2 and Powerbeats Fit 2. The rating protects against water splashes and sweat. The cups can be removed for cleaning, and users can swap them for plush engineered leather versions used with the Studio Pro headphones.

The headphones stayed comfortable during back squats, planks, and lunges, but needed readjustment during sprints and sit-ups. Higgins found the bass supportive and the high end generally clear, while the midrange offered limited separation. At $350, he preferred the Sony XM5.

The Beats 360 support Apple features including one-touch pairing, iCloud pairing, automatic device switching, audio sharing, Find My, and hands-free Siri. Android features include fast pairing, audio switching on supported devices, and Google’s Find Hub. The headphones cost $50 per cushion set, but sets are available for $10 through Apple until the end of October.
