TechRadar reports that Snap is taking its augmented-reality Specs glasses into the enterprise market through partnerships with Nvidia, Salesforce and Amazon Web Services (AWS).
The glasses cost $2,195. Snap wants businesses to view Specs as a computing platform rather than primarily as a camera product. The company says the device could help field technicians by displaying digital instructions during equipment inspections or repairs. Employees could also use the glasses to communicate with colleagues while accessing information during workplace tasks.
Snap believes the smaller physical size of Specs may address problems that affected earlier immersive-computing devices. Microsoft’s HoloLens and Meta’s Quest line struggled to become widely adopted consumer hardware, according to the report. Snap is now emphasizing practical workplace applications as it looks beyond its consumer business.
The company has not disclosed how many enterprise customers have committed to Specs or how much revenue its partnerships could generate. Nvidia is providing access to an open-source extended-reality AI platform for business applications, while Salesforce and AWS are contributing additional technology relationships.
Snap is also developing Specs Intelligence, an AI service designed to work across the glasses, iPhones and Mac computers. CEO Evan Spiegel said pricing has not been finalized, with free access expected alongside usage-based options. The service is intended to let users complete tasks through an AI assistant while moving between Specs and Apple devices.
