Windows 11 Copilot app adds an in-app browser based on Edge

Microsoft is preparing an in-app browser for the Copilot app on Windows 11 and macOS, allowing links from Copilot to open in a side panel inside the app instead of the device’s default browser.

TechRadar reports that the feature has been in testing since early this year. Administrators can enable it now, while a broader rollout is planned for late November. Depending on the rollout pace, some users may have to wait a couple of months or longer before seeing it.

The change could make it easier to read web pages highlighted by Copilot without leaving the app. However, feedback shared on Reddit has been largely negative, with some users rejecting the idea of using Copilot as a browser.

Windows Central raised the question of whether the update could make Copilot a preferred browser on Windows 11. The in-app browser is based on Edge, so the feature also keeps more activity inside Copilot and indirectly promotes Microsoft’s browser. That does not rule out a practical benefit for people who already use the Copilot app.
