Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei is scheduled to have dinner with President Donald Trump at the White House. TechCrunch, citing a source familiar with Amodei’s plans, confirmed the dinner after Axios first reported it.
It will be the first one-on-one meeting between the two men. They have recently taken opposing positions in the debate over AI safety. Amodei released a plan to slow AI development or proceed with more caution. Trump has called the AI backlash a Democratic hoax without providing evidence and has said he wants to rebrand the technology as “super intelligence.”
Amodei and Anthropic have also had a strained relationship with Trump’s administration. Earlier this year, the Pentagon designated Anthropic a supply-chain risk after the company sought guardrails on how its technology is used. Anthropic is challenging that designation in court. The source report says some other administration officials have been friendlier toward the company.
