Apple is reportedly working on a new screenless fitness tracker similar to Whoop’s bands, The Verge reports, citing Bloomberg. A prototype reportedly includes a thin fabric band with a sensor-equipped computing module.
The device is still in an early development stage and likely would not arrive before 2028 if Apple decides to release it, Bloomberg reports.
Whoop’s lineup includes 5.0 bands, as well as MG, or “medical grade,” variants with a built-in EKG feature. The bands are designed for continuous wear and offer more than 14 days of battery life.
Bloomberg also points out that Apple has added several features already offered by Whoop to the new Apple Watch Series 12, including continuous heart rate tracking. Apple’s Health app now includes a “readiness score” used by Fitbit, Oura, and Whoop. The score is supposed to indicate how “ready” someone is to work out based on several factors, alongside an estimate of biological age.
