Zoom has launched its Unified Context Layer (UCL), a system that brings together meeting conversations, chats, documents and other business data. The company says the layer is designed to help AI agents work across information that may otherwise remain siloed.
Zoom said UCL combines conversations with near real-time activity across Zoom and connected third-party applications, giving people and AI agents access to business context. New APIs will also let external AI tools query UCL directly. The source names ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Muse as examples of tools that could access Zoom-held data.
The launch fits Zoom’s broader shift from video conferencing toward a productivity suite for people and AI agents. The source notes that Zoom is not the first platform to introduce a Unified Context Layer. It argues that Zoom’s focus on communications within organizations and with external clients could make its system a source of unstructured data for future AI agents.
Zoom presents conversations as an underused source of information for AI. The source suggests UCL may influence the company’s roadmap and how enterprises use agentic AI, but provides no measurements or customer results.
