X said Wednesday that, starting today, all U.S. creator payouts will be handled through X Money, the company’s payments service.
The change covers payouts from both the Original Content Rewards Program and creators’ Subscriptions. X said creators will have access to their payouts as soon as they are sent. Previously, payments were processed every two weeks, with a minimum payout of $30, according to X’s documentation.
The announcement’s wording appears to indicate that X Money is now the only payout option on the platform, although X has been asked for clarification. The previous payout system was powered by Stripe.
The shift follows changes to X’s creator programs. On September 7, X will retire its Creator Revenue Sharing Program, which stopped accepting new members last month. Creators are instead being moved to the Original Content Rewards Program.
X Money began supporting creator payouts earlier this month. The service includes a bank card with 3% cashback, instant payments, free ATM withdrawals and other digital banking services. X Money is not a bank; accounts are held at FDIC-insured Cross River Bank. X said creator payouts will count toward direct deposit requirements for its better APY rate. Its website lists a boosted 6% rate for X Premium users, compared with 4% standard. X will issue a 1099-NEC to individuals and collect W-9 information from LLCs.
