A Use.AI survey of 8,316 people who use artificial intelligence at work found that many spend substantial time reviewing and correcting AI-assisted material. The respondents were in the UK, European Union, US, Canada, Australia and Latin America, according to TechRadar’s report on the research.
While 62% said AI made it easier to create documents, memos and code, 48% said they had received AI-assisted work that needed correction. Another 43% said they had been forced to redo unsuitable AI work. Nearly 48% said the technology created more problems.
Reviewing the output also took time: 39% said checking AI’s work took longer than making their own version from scratch, and 41% said they had to spend more time reviewing and verifying AI-produced material since it was introduced into their work process. Meanwhile, 34% said they forwarded AI-produced or AI-assisted work without checking it.
The survey also found that 58% of respondents said there were no rules for checking AI-assisted work. The findings suggest that, for some workplaces, the time spent reviewing and fixing AI output can offset the time saved when producing a first draft. The survey results are available online through Use.AI.
