Microsoft is rolling out a redesigned right-click menu for Windows 11, with options to make it faster and easier to customize. The feature is available in an optional preview update and is expected to arrive in the November update.
Users can remove commands such as “Send to,” add options and choose which apps appear in the menu. They can also integrate the top row of actions, including cut, paste and rename, into the main list, and rearrange the layout—for example, moving Properties to the bottom.
Microsoft says the updated menu opens more quickly, reduces clutter and gives users more control over commands and app extensions. Early reactions reported by TechRadar are generally positive, with some Windows 11 users who installed the preview saying the menu feels faster. Other commenters questioned why the change took so long.
Availability is gradual, so some users who installed the optional update have not received the menu yet. TechRadar reports that the feature can be enabled with the Windows configuration utility ViVeTool, but cautions that forcing a preview feature may carry a higher risk of bugs. The November update is also expected to roll out gradually.
