Vivo has announced the X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max in China, with the series revealed on September 21. The phones are exclusive to China at launch, while a wider rollout is expected later. A US release is considered unlikely.
TechRadar's Timothy Coleman spent 24 hours with the Vivo X500 Pro Max at the launch event in Shanghai. The phone effectively replaces last year's Vivo X300 Ultra and uses a triple front camera array with ultra-wide, main and telephoto Zeiss optics.
The main lens now has a 24mm focal length, compared with the X300 Ultra's tighter 35mm main lens. The 3.5x telephoto camera has an 85mm equivalent focal length and includes a mode that enables 200MP resolution. The ultra-wide and main cameras offer 50MP boosted resolution.
TechRadar plans a camera comparison involving the Vivo X500 Pro Max, Vivo X300 Ultra and Oppo Find X9 Ultra. The publication says the Oppo and Xiaomi 17 Ultra are already available in the UK and that it will continue watching Vivo's release plans for the X500 models.
