Tuesday Labs, a robotics lab and design studio based in New York City, has opened reservations for Voxel, a bipedal robot designed to learn and take on routine household tasks. The company expects the robot to cost around $20,000 when it ships sometime in 2028. A reservation costs $200.
The preorder model, Voxel Series-1, has two articulated arms with seven degrees of freedom and simple grippers. Its vision system includes stereo RGB cameras and a secondary wide-field camera intended to monitor a room. The robot moves on Z-shaped legs with knees that bend in the opposite direction from human knees. Tuesday Labs says the design lets Voxel adjust its height and bend its knees for balance near cabinets, tables and shelves.
Tuesday Labs says Voxel can handle basic autonomous tasks, including tidying, returning items to their places, watering plants and retrieving books. It can also help locate a misplaced object: users can ask where it last saw something, such as a TV remote. The source says Voxel will not make dinner or change diapers at launch. It does not provide detailed information about how reliably the robot performs these tasks.
The company describes Voxel as a “droid butler.” Its capabilities and potential household benefits remain less clearly detailed than its design and hardware.
