Thrive Holdings, led by Joshua Kushner, is acquiring home security company ADT in an all-cash deal valued at $7.6 billion. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027 and would take ADT private, according to The Verge, which says Bloomberg reported the deal earlier.
Thrive Holdings was founded last year as an offshoot of Thrive Capital Management, Joshua Kushner’s venture capital firm. TechCrunch has described Thrive Holdings as a “private equity firm for AI” that buys traditional businesses, including accounting and IT services, and applies AI to their workflows.
ADT operates a standalone home security service and has partnerships with major technology companies. Those partnerships allow ADT technicians to sell and install Google Nest devices and Apple’s new lineup of smart home products.
In a press release, ADT CEO Jim DeVries said Thrive Holdings’ capital and technology expertise would give ADT opportunities to accelerate innovation, improve the customer experience, and serve more homes and businesses.
