The RPCS3 team has announced an update that lets the emulator load and run PS3 games directly from physical Blu-ray discs on PC.
The feature supports PCs running Linux and macOS as well as other PC environments. RPCS3 describes the new capability as “Plug and Play,” allowing compatible PS3 games to start from their original discs.
Previously, users needed to dump an entire game before loading it through the emulator. The update removes that requirement for games supported by the new disc-loading functionality.
RPCS3 is a PlayStation 3 emulator, and the developers described the change as a major update for the project. The announcement focuses on direct use of physical media and does not provide further details about compatibility or additional emulator changes.
