RemoveMacAI, a Mac app that deletes Apple Intelligence, freed 11.7GB on TechRadar reporter Alex Blake’s Mac, according to Blake’s account. The result was close to the app developer’s claims.
The app began circulating in late September as a Terminal command. Its developer later released a graphical app that wraps the command, with a built-in tutorial and toggles organized across tabs. Blake chose to remove Apple Intelligence without changing other settings. The app offers separate controls for Siri AI, ChatGPT’s extension, Writing Tools and Image Playground.
Before making changes, RemoveMacAI asks users to install a custom profile. Blake says the profile’s changes could be reviewed. The developer says the app leaves System Integrity Protection enabled, makes no network requests and collects no telemetry. Those are the developer’s claims.
Blake encountered a macOS warning that the app was not trusted and would not run because it was unsigned. The article says users must manually allow it to open. It also reports that the app can undo changes, including redownloading Apple Intelligence models when they are needed again. Blake found it useful, but said the lack of notarization and the warning kept them from recommending it without reservation.
