Oracle invokes force majeure over New Mexico data center

Oracle has sent a force majeure notice related to Project Jupiter, its large data center project in New Mexico. According to Bloomberg, the notice could allow Oracle to delay payments if the facility does not enter service as planned in 2028.

The project includes a data center with capacity of more than 2.4 gigawatts and is part of the wider Stargate AI infrastructure initiative. Construction has encountered regulatory hurdles and local opposition. A delay has also affected expansion of a natural gas pipeline intended to supply the facility.

Oracle told CNBC that the schedule remains unchanged and that it remains fully committed to the project. Developer Blue Owl Capital also said the notice does not change its financial commitments. Oracle shares fell more than 3 percent after the reports.
