Nacon has announced the Revolution 5 Unlimited (R5U), an asymmetric controller officially licensed for PlayStation 5 consoles. The company says it is the first officially licensed PS5 controller with a built-in control screen, letting players make adjustments without leaving a game.
Players can adjust audio mixing, joystick sensitivity and shortcut mapping on the controller. Its TMR (Tunneling Magnetoresistance) magnetic technology is making its debut in Nacon hardware. Nacon says the technology is designed to improve reliability, precision and power consumption.
The controller is aimed at competitive gaming and includes micro-switch action buttons, Trigger Blockers with “instant trigger” technology, and remappable shortcut buttons. Its Shooter Pro Mode removes joystick dead zones, according to Nacon.
The R5U comes with a storage case and charging dock. It supports connections to PS5 consoles, PC and Android Smart TVs, and a mobile app for advanced settings. Nacon says a dedicated PC mode with 1ms latency and additional features will also be available through the app.
It is available to pre-order from NaconGaming for $229.99, £179.99 or €199.99. Nacon accessories division director Yannick Allaert said the controller combines a built-in screen and TMR technology. TechRadar previously reviewed the Revolution 5 Pro; reviewer Rhys Wood described it as “fantastic” but said it fell short of being essential.
