Modal says its agentic AI sandboxes run 2x faster on NVIDIA Vera CPUs than on the Intel and AMD CPUs it used before.
The company had relied on x86 chips and made substantial changes to move its workloads to Vera, according to Wccftech. Modal said the transition brought a 2x performance uplift.
Modal also said Vera performs better under heavy load. The report does not provide test methods, hardware configurations, or workload details, so the figures describe Modal’s reported results rather than an independently verified comparison.
NVIDIA’s Vera is an Arm-based CPU. Its adoption by Modal is part of a broader shift in which some companies that previously used x86 processors are choosing Arm CPUs for agentic AI workloads. Wccftech also notes that Arm has highlighted its AGI CPUs as alternatives to x86 options.
