Microsoft has released cumulative updates KB5127648 and KB5126653 for Windows 11 versions 26H2, 25H2, 24H2 and 23H2. The updates include October 2026 Patch Tuesday security fixes, bug fixes and new features. The source says the updates address hundreds of vulnerabilities discovered in previous months.
The source describes KB5127648 as the update for versions 26H2, 25H2 and 24H2, and KB5126653 for version 23H2. It says the newer versions share the same update and receive no exclusive changes.
Among the listed changes, File Explorer now preserves whether Home sections are expanded or collapsed, and improves cloud-file thumbnail previews in the Details pane. For downloaded HTML files, the preview pane offers a “Preview anyway” button after a warning; other files, including PDFs, preview automatically. The update also adds Emoji 17.0 and a Tips widget.
Other changes include improvements to Bluetooth connections and audio, desktop background settings, and the Magnifier toolbar’s appearance. A new accessibility setting, “Open apps maximized,” makes app windows open maximized. The source says users can check for the updates through Windows Update or download them from the Microsoft Update Catalog.
