Microsoft Investigates Teams Desktop Loading Delays on Windows

Microsoft is investigating a known issue that prevents some users from opening the Microsoft Teams desktop client on Windows or causes loading delays of up to two minutes.

The issue, tracked as TM1466820, occurs when users first open Teams on Windows devices. Microsoft said affected customers may be able to avoid the problem by using Teams on the web or the Teams mobile app.

Microsoft is analyzing service logs and telemetry data and has contacted some affected users to identify the root cause and possible mitigation options.

The company is also investigating a separate problem affecting Teams for Mac. Tracked as TM1466659, the issue may prevent Mac users from joining Teams calls or meetings. Microsoft said it is reassessing its initial understanding of the root cause after further review suggested that a code change might not have caused the impact.

Microsoft resolved another Teams Free issue in April that blocked some users from chatting and calling others. The company also recently confirmed crashes and launch failures affecting Teams and New Outlook after certain Windows security updates released since the August 2026 Patch Tuesday.
