A video of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang playing with Microduck robots at the company’s GTC Berlin keynote went viral earlier this week. In the footage, the small robots waddle, make R2-D2-like sounds, sit, take a “nap” and perform a somersault on voice command.
By the following day, preorders had exceeded 20,000 units, Hugging Face CEO Clem Delangue said in a post on X. The robots are expected to arrive in time for Christmas. Delangue said they could become the year’s best-selling robot, and promotional videos show adults playing with them as well as children.
Microducks are open-source robots made by Pollen Robotics, which Hugging Face acquired in 2025. The source article says Nvidia acquired Hugging Face in September, but does not specify a year. Microducks are Hugging Face’s second robot, following Reachy Mini.
The robots were trained with Nvidia’s technology stack in simulations, where they learned basic actions such as walking, sitting and standing. Pollen Robotics says owners can train them to perform new tricks and share those with the community.
