Meta open-sources code for DIY Muse AI gadgets

Meta has open-sourced code that lets people build their own gadgets featuring Muse, the company’s AI agent. The company suggests projects including putting Muse on a color E Ink display to show reminders, connecting it to an HDMI stick to display it on a big screen, or using a small touchscreen to make a device resembling a DIY Muse Charm.

Meta says builders can program an off-the-shelf ESP32 board or set up a Raspberry Pi with its SDKs, then connect Muse to displays, buttons, sensors, actuators, and other hardware. The company cautions builders to proceed at their own risk.

Meta is also giving away a gadget it made, called Muse Home Link. According to the company, it can use community-built skills to perform tasks such as turning on a light, controlling a TV, or sending a document to a printer, depending on the user’s setup.

Meta Superintelligence Labs’ Nat Friedman says the company manufactured 5,000 Muse Home Link gadgets. People can claim a spot on the waitlist now, ahead of shipping sometime this month, Meta says.
