Meta expands Muse with email, computer access and video calls

Meta is quickly expanding its Muse AI agent with new ways to communicate and complete tasks.

Muse agents will get their own email addresses, which they can use to accomplish tasks. Users will also be able to communicate with their Muse agents through those addresses. The recently launched Muse Mac app will gain the ability to use the computer.

Meta is also preparing video calls with Muse. The agent's main interface has been a chat window since launch, but users will soon be able to have live video conversations with their Muse avatars. Meta will let users customize how an avatar sounds, in addition to its appearance. A new Muse Realtime Avatar model will guide how the avatar moves.

Muse launched earlier this month and appears to be gaining attention. It topped the App Store charts and was reportedly downloaded more than ChatGPT on mobile during its first 12 days. Meta appears to be responding to that popularity with rapid updates, although the company is also planning broader access. Meta says it plans to launch Muse on its smart glasses in the coming months, allowing users to discuss what they are looking at while wearing the glasses.
