Apple has released macOS 27 Golden Gate, bringing a new Siri AI assistant, Liquid Glass improvements, better performance, and other changes.
The update works on all Macs with Apple Silicon but not on Intel Macs. Apple released its final major update for Intel-based Macs last year with macOS Tahoe.
Siri AI is the most significant feature in macOS 27. It can answer questions, search personal information such as photos and emails, and take actions in apps including Messages and Reminders. A dedicated Siri app keeps an archive of chats for easier reference.
Siri AI will initially launch as a beta and will be available only in English.
Apple says Liquid Glass now offers “uniform refraction and improved contrast.” A new slider lets users make Liquid Glass elements more or less opaque. macOS 27 also introduces consistent window corner radii, another major interface change.
